The research focused on the DCTN1 gene, which is associated with Perry syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disorder. After analyzing mouse brain data, GPT-Rosalind generated a hypothesis that disruption of the gene may impair the transport of cholesterol needed by neurons, giving researchers a more specific mechanistic direction for developing new therapies. OpenAI also said it worked with Perturb AI and Scripps Research to run thousands of GPT-Rosalind agents in parallel. According to the company, the system connected gene expression results from millions of mouse brain cells with scientific literature in 32 minutes. OpenAI said it is expanding the collaboration to identify additional drug targets.20
